And There She is, Gone

WiP: Gemini by Jane Richmond (Gemini is a free pattern, so definitely worth taking a look at...!), Wedding # 2 Log Cabin blanket edging (simply eyelet border, four lace rows)

Well, the summer came for one day, and now it feels like fall and time for even more knitted sweaters!!

Standing on the train platform this morning, I got to thinking about what kind of mittens, hats, and scarves I wanted for the winter.

Also, there will be some changes upcoming around here, but they're under wraps for now. I can let you know that they're exciting, however!

Also, there will finally be an Etsy update within the next week! I'm going to be photographing my items this weekend and likely posting them on Monday.

That's all for now, though!

Have a lovely couple of days!

And Then, the Fabric Became Bags!!

WiP: slippers, Meg Swansen's "Spanish Peacock" shawl
Needs a zipper: Dallas's cardigan

What I'm Reading: Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner

I had a super busy weekend!! I've got the schedule on schedule so far, with the completion of the 12 drawstring bags I have planned to post at the beginning of August in the start of my Etsy updates!

I also got the chance to go to the Hays Breakfast at Heritage Park with my friend! We stood right behind Nenshi, AND I got to see a sheep with her lambs, and get some Chuckwagon Drivers' autographs!

Finally, I'm nearly finished Dallas's sweater. So happy for it, too. Since this picture, the collar's been sewn down and all the ends woven in. I just need to sew the zipper in!

What have all you lovely folks been up to?

What I'm Reading Wednesday

Down to the one book this week! I'll probably stick with the one for now and finish it before I even decide what's next, although 1001 Tales of the Arabian Nights is already high on my list.

Right now, I'm going to finish:

My Summer so Far

WiP: Felted Mittens, Chunky Slippers
FOs: Chunky Slippers (blue)

It's going to be a busy summer here at Nekozuki Yarns!

After I posted that I was looking for inspiration, I sat down, cracked the whip, and started a calendar along with a schedule for the next three months; now I need to plot out the three months after that.

This will not be a hard and fast sort of thing, as I'm starting to new products never seen in my shop before!

Like, box bags out of this awesome Marvel fabric I just found last night:

There will also be some of the same, like the felted mittens I worked on outside of Starbucks while I read the other day:

And although this is not something that I'm going to sell, but I finished Dallas's cardigan on Canada Day (and that's his blanket drying in the background - Log cabin baby blankets will likely be available at some point in the next year):

Finally, this is the Trans-Canada, only 9 days after it had been devastatingly washed out by the floods! (Sunday of Canada Day weekend, no less.)

So, my summer's going to be busy!  Look for more posts and photos as it progresses!

(Also, so glad that summer weather has finally got here...Although on the hottest days I have now been knitting mittens!)

What have you been up to so far this summer?

Chatter: Looking for Inspiration

WiP: Felted Mittens, Wedding Blanket #2

Heat: Too High

I keep hitting points where I have so much to do that I don't know where to start, and then I hit a roadblock for inspiration of all sorts...And then I get bored and feel completely uninspired. Right now, I have tons of things I could work on, but don't feel like doing any of it. At all.

I know that there is lots of inspiration all around me all the time...But recently it hasn't triggered much. It seems like it might be time to sit down, make a list of what I want to do, and start checking it off as I go.

The Etsy update for the summer looms large right now, so that means that my first priority is getting a couple personal knits out of the way, and getting more of my felted items actually made and felted. So I know I'll start there.

I need to start my wedding shawl, but I'm uninspired there because I'm daunted by the size and how much I've screwed up the lace the last couple of times I've tried to start it.

I think it might be time to switch crafts for this weekend, since I've really got a bug to do some sewing, but my knitting itch has drifted to the way side for a bit.

I think sewing might be it. I want to make some drawstring bags to go along with any box bags I get finished for August.

I think a day of sewing will make me feel that much more inspired to knit.

What do you do when you get into a creative funk?

What I'm Reading Wednesday

Until I have more to talk about with the wedding, I'll be posting about what I'm reading on Wednesdays.

Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell

I'm really enjoying this read. Susanna Clarke has really picked up on an almost Victorian-aesthetic vibe with her debut novel, which makes this an enjoyable read about the re-establishment of English Magic.

A Tale for the Time Being

Admittedly, I'm only about 25 pages or less into this novel, but it has already caught my attention. It was originally meant to be my "gym" reading to motivate me to get out of the house onto a stationary bike...But I think I'll return to this after I've finished Johnathan Strange.
