WiP: Boot Cuffs for a friend; Calligraphy Cardigan
All right, so here's the plan for the summer!
I am participating in The Knit Girllls Stash Dash 2014 (you require a Ravelry account to access this forum).
What Stash Dash means is that any project from May 23 to August 7 that you bind off is counted as using up "stash."
To be qualified for the prizes in this, you have to bind off a total of 5K of yarn, or 5,468yd.
This includes spinning, knitting, crocheting, etc.

Another pair of boot cuffs (cabled) (Current carry-around project)
Want to finish: Cozy Calligraphy Cardigan ( Calligraphy Cardigan ) - ~2,016 yd
Want to do:
My Hope - 450 yd
Owls - ~830-850 yd
Pont Neuf - ~2,048 yd
Without boot cuffs = Approx. 6,259yd. Yeah! Let's keep our fingers crossed! I would only really need to do the My Hope and the Pont Neuf to reach my goal. But we'll see. I REALLY want that Owls sweater, especially since I have the perfect yarn AND I knit one for my future niece for Christmas last year...It would be super fast. And considering that we're driving out to Victoria for the get away right after the wedding, Pont Neuf/Owls would be perfect to carry with me!!
I may also be working on another top for Florida, too, though. I just found this one: Feather & Fan Ribbed Tee by Judy Croucher
But the benefit to the other three is that I have the stats for it already...And the Feather & Fan Tee would need new yarn...Although I'm going to put it on my list for my birthday. It might have to wait until after the wedding, though. We'll see. haha

It's a Super Short Post...With Pictures!
WiP: Wedding Socks
My shawl, she is blocked! I love it soooooooo much! I"ll make sure to get some better pictures later, but I figured you may as well see it as it was drying! :)
Not much else going on. Excited for the weekend so that I can start sewing table runners - I've finally finished the tidy-up that has been going on since January!

Legitimate Progress!
WiP: Marion by Andi Satterlund (Cascade 220, Black)
So, the body of the cardigan was done on Friday. I struggled with the sleeves all weekend due to not having fully comprehended the instructions (I still blame the cold medication).
And! Dallas was a doll (and he wants a cardigan), so he went out and bought the required amount for me in the Cascade 220 Heathers - Forest:

But, by Tuesday, I figured the sleeve out and finished it last night, so now I'm working on the other sleeve. I'll take a picture of the sleeve cap when I get home tonight.Both of these pictures don't show how dark the black is.
This yarn is slowly going to become Bruce Weinstein's Basic Cardigan: Two Ways - Zipper Version

This will be a process that I hope to finish by the fall, considering that it is a LOT of stockinette. But I have been zooming through these sweaters, so who knows? They're faster than blankets! (And lacy shawls.)
Actually, I think once I finish my cardigan, I need to start on my shawl and see if I can progress through the yarn overs and k2tog without losing stitches or adding too many. I almost had it the last time I cast on...But so far, no good. I guess we'll see this time! I love doing lace, but I almost always seem to do something early on that completely screws it up. I guess I should be thankful that it's early on, and not when I'm nearly finished!
Anyway.

Queue Enhancement Friday!
So, since I've been so slack this week...I figured I better at least do the queue enhancement Friday so that you guys could all give some awesome patterns some lovin'. These aren't going to have much of a commentary, since I just want to get it up and give you guys the patterns and some pretty pictures.

Wedding Wednesday: 4/80, Save-the-Dates
Hello, my lovelies!
Quick update this week.
We're designing "Save-the-Date" postcards, which I think has been really fun. I'm just deciding on how to word the backs.
I don't know if I want a super playful "hey, we're going to tie the knot!" saying or if I want the other one that I like, which is "Once upon a time...Come help us celebrate out happily-ever-after!"
I'm definitely leaning towards the second, because I want a kind of fairy tale feeling to the whole day, although this would likely be the most obvious part of it, since the rest will be more subtle.
Otherwise, we actually met with and booked our photographer, and are in the process of getting our ceremony/reception venue booked! Super exciting. I can't wait to go do the tasting!! hehe
So that's where we're at. I'm going to talk to Dallas and get this figured out, and once I do, I'll let you all know about it, too!
And suddenly, I hear something about the shawl...Yes. That. I'll be casting on again this weekend and trying not freak out about how freaky it is how it's growing while I'm looking at the back of it, essentially.

Friday Queue Enhancement

So, ready to have more patterns that make you squeal? Excellent!
By the way, if you aren't on Ravelry, got on over and sign up. Then you can add all of these patterns to your queue so that you have an idea of what you'll want to knit later (if you don't already). Also, it's a great community of knitters, crocheters, and spinners.

So, one of the best things I've heard recently was suggestion by Diane of Knitabulls to actually knit this cat out of handspun. Which is exactly what I'm going to do. I have some gorgeous yarn from Dragonfly Dyewerx out of Drumheller that will be perfect. Once I find the time!
This one has been around for awhile, but I still love it. I definitely want to knit it in something soft as a casual shawl. Someday.
I love the book that these patterns came in; this is just one of my favourites because it's so fuzzy! I have this on my list to knit after dinosaurs.
Admittedly, I'm not a big crocheter. But this pattern is sooooo adorable!
A shawl, with a cat motif in the edge!? What more could you ask for??
How can you tell that I love most of what Tiny Owl Knits produces? I can't wait to knit this for myself...Or perhaps for a special little girl if I have one later on in life.
And finally, a pair of mittens. That are awesome. And complicated. But still on my list.

Teasers!
On the needles: mittens for a 4 and 2 year old. (It's the mitten knittin' summer!)
So, here's a few pictures of what I'll be posting on Etsy within the next week!
First off, the stripy legwarmers that I've been working on:
I will post full pictures and links when I make the full posts on my Etsy shop. I need to get out in the proper light for some good pictures of these items before I fully post them on the shop. I need to put my best foot forward with the first listings. And there will be coffee cup cozies, too.
Other than that, I actually picked up a couple of knitting magazines today. Specifically, "Knitting today!"'s August/September issue, and "Interweave Knits"'s Fall 2011 issue. Both of really nice patterns in them, and there are a couple I'm definitely going to take and adapt. I really like to pick these magazines up for the inspiration that they can provide. I might have to consider investing in a couple of subscriptions...Or requesting subscriptions for Christmas! I love getting mail, so that would be perfect.
Speaking of inspiration, after these mittens are done, I'm moving onto another couple of projects. One is definitely going to involve intarsia and a hat and the Rocky Mountains, potentially a Rocky Mountain sunset (although that may come later); the other is going to be a baby/toddler log cabin blanket to put up for sale. If the Rocky Mountain intarsia hat turns out well, that might be something that I enter in for next year's Calgary Stampede contest. I guess we'll see!
Other than that, just getting settled into the new place. There's two bookshelves filled with books, and the yarn will be organized soon (I have a feeling that it will be a never ending process, what with the stash that I've accumulated). And the clothes need to be unpacked. It seems as though it's a rule that I make sure that the books are unpacked first!

The colours are Paton's Canadiana "Bubble Gum" and "Lime Juice" with a black polyester ribbon tipped in jewelry clamps. They are corset laced, and I used the black ribbon because the colours remind me of a watermelon...So I figured I would add the seeds!
The next is what I fondly refer to as the "Cheetos" shawl, because of the colour and texture of the yarn. I knit it while I was in Japan to have something to do, and I liked the funky colour. It's a simple garter stitch knit that wonderfully shows off the yarn's texture! I don't remember much about the label (It was all in Japanese), but I know the yarn was made in Italy, so that makes this a really unique item! Made in Japan with Italian yarn by a Rocky Mountain Canadian girl.
