Almost There!!

WiP: Sweater
Needs Felting: Stockings

Happy Valentine's Day, my dears!

Dallas outdid himself this year with a very nice dinner last night (he's heading up North today). Tasty, tasty. And, heart-shaped waffled today!

Anyway. Tonight, I'm going to head to the gym after work for a little bit at least, and then head home and knit to my heart's content.

This Monday is the long weekend, which I'm super excited for. I am definitely sleeping, since yesterday I called it a half-day, headed home, promptly crashed into bed, and slept for over an hour. Just kind of feverish and chilly. Feel almost 100% today, though, because of the extra sleep!

So, yes. Saturday, I'm taking a learn-to-make sushi class with my future sister-in-law, and then I don't have any plans besides the whole sleeping thing. I'm going to try to start shifting my sleeping pattern more to this whole "early-morning-gym" thing. In part because whenever I go in the evening it is a.) super busy, b.) smells, and c.) is humid. I'm going to try to keep it up at least 3-4 times a week, if I can't do it every day.

3 weeks to a good habit, right? hahaha

The other thing this means is that I hopefully get some pictures and info up on Etsy. As long as the light is good, I'm at least going to take pictures!

And, fingers crossed, I can get my shawl cast on and actually worked on this weekend! I think that'll be my biggest goal. haha

Anyway. Hope everyone is well!

Have a lovely day!!

Sleeves!!

WiP: Sweater
Needs Felting: Stockings

That's right! I'm about 1/2 way through the first sleeve. Yay! I had some problem making the pick up of the underarm stitches look good, even when I picked up more to tighten up the holes, but it looks all right. I hope the second sleeve looks better.

After this? I'm going to work on my shawl (finally), and then on to Heather Fettig's Calligraphy Cardigan, which I'm going to knit in Berroco Vintage DK, in I think the "Cerulean" colourway. I'll confirm those details when I start!

Otherwise, need to start knitting on the super-secret project, and a couple of other commission-like things. Like, baby pants. Super cute baby pants, from Nikki Van de Car's What to Knit When You're Expecting. This book provides a lot of really good patterns for baby knits, so I'm excited!

Can I just say that it feels like I should be starting my stockpile so that I can dress my own babies in something knit hopefully close to everyday? The biggest culprit that made me think of this (besides Nikki's super awesome book) was the kit that you can now get from Eat. Sleep. Knit.: Dream in Color's Tulip Cardigan for babies kit.

I saw these recently on the Yarn Harlot's blog (since I'm going through the archives), and I think that this is something I should be knitting for bundling baby home. hehe (I also just noticed that these kits have enough yarn for either a 6-9 month or 12-18 month old sweater!!)

We'll see what I feel like then, but I think I need to start something so that I have a stockpile. Kind of like the linens thing that brides used to do. (Which is my shawl, but I'm just lucky that I have time to do that!)

Anyway. That's what my days have looked like. Been busy at work, busy at home.

Dallas is taking me out for dinner the night before Valentine's, since he'll be heading out the afternoon of the 14th, and so I'm excited about that. I'll let you know how it goes. :)

I can't wait for Alberta's Family Day this Monday! Long weekend, ahoy! I also get to take a sushi-making class with my future sister-in-law~!

Other than that, I'm going to hunker down, watch some Disney movies, and knit.

Have a lovely evening, my dears!

Hey, They're Finally Here!

I have actually done more work on the sweater, but these are the pictures I can show:

Sleeve on hold!

Sunday Night

The yarn after winding. I've only been through one skein of the yarn, as listed on my projector page:

And the custom order stockings with a picot binding. Still need to be felted and blocked, and then life will be good! :)

Hope you're all having a lovely weekend!

The Endless Fields of Stockinette

WiP: Oatmeal Pullover (Linked in Tuesday's post); stockings

Quick one today.

On the (seemingly) endless body of the Oatmeal Pullover. I put lots of time and effort, and the rounds seem to go really fast...But it doesn't feel like it's grown at all over the past couple of days.

Oh well. It'll be weekend knitting, along with the cuffs on the stockings.

Nothing else. Been super busy at work.

So, heading out!

Have a lovely day, my dears.

And She Knit the Whole Weekend Long

WiP: Felted Stockings, Jane Richmond's "Oatmeal Pullover"

Complete fail on my part for promising that I would get extra posts done this weekend...But I was so exhausted that I curled up, finished the felted stocking bodies (have to finish the cuffs)...And cast on the Oatmeal Pullover for myself.

I'm already about halfway through the body, and then I just need to knit the sleeves. For my first sweater, I hope it turns out well; it looks go so far, and since it was relatively easy, I'm thinking that I'll have to make this in a few other colours for everyday wear! It seems like it will be a very versatile sweater, which is exactly what I need. Appropriate for work AND play. :)

I ended up watching "The Help" and "Thor" this weekend. I had never seen "The Help" before, although I had read it. I think that they did a really good job adapting the book to the movie, with a split in focus between the two groups so that it didn't turn into a movie where it was focussed on the white girl's plight to write her first book, with the help of the black help; instead, I found it to be a very good balance between both the struggles of a coming-of-age writer in Jackson, Mississippi, in the turmoil and struggles for the black population at that time.

"Thor" is good as always. This is about 50% in part because he's shirtless for that one scene, but also because I enjoy superhero movies, particularly Marvel. (Shhhhhh. I like DC, too.) It also was really cool to watch it again after having seen "The Avengers," since I picked up on a lot that I didn't before watching "The Avengers."

Last night was an amazing mail night, which made me super happy. And...Yeah. That was my exciting weekend. I'm going to work more on my sweater, and get the stocking finished up hopefully by this weekend!

By the way, what's YOUR favourite superhero movie? Let me know in the comments!
